Stereotype

Today, I found out nowadays peoples' think according to stereotype. Firstly, what is stereotype? These I found on Wikipedia. Stereotypes are generalizations, or assumptions that people make about the characteristics of all members of a group based on an image (often wrong) about what people in that group are like. For example, one study of stereotypes revealed that Americans are generally considered to be friendly, generous, and tolerant, but also arrogant, impatient, and domineering. Asians, on the other hand, were expected to be shrewd and alert, but reserved. Clearly, not all Americans are friendly and generous; and not all Asians are shrewd. If you assume you know what a person is like, and don't look at each person as an individual, you are likely to make errors in your estimates of a person's character. In conflicts, people tend to develop overly-negative images of the other side. The opponent is expected to be aggressive, self-serving, and deceitful, for example, while people view themselves in completely positive ways. These stereotypes tend to be self-perpetuating. If one side assumes the other side is deceitful and aggressive, they will tend to respond in a similar way. The opponent will then develop a similar image of the first party, and the negative stereotypes will be confirmed. They may be growing worse, as communication is shut down and escalation heightens emotions and tension.

Most of them did not even experience themselves in a situation, then they have managed to figure out what is the thing or stuff was. Example like, did we really know what's had happen out of the space which located far away from us? Have you even seen it or it is just your illumination that imagine by yourself? And so, this is what am I talking to myself. Yes, I don't know about that. Just like design, we always just refer to the good designer's work which we think they are excellent. I am wondering why do we confirm the work which done by a good designer are always good? No one knows that. The world are big, we can't judge who is the one is the good designer. What do we know on a good designer is because we have been told by our lecturer, friends, etc. Just an example, how about Picasso's work which considers a "simply" drawn art is a good drawing? Why? Even a 3 years old boy can draw as what he drawn. And why we did considered him as a good artist? This is because everything has been stereotype. Obviously, the stereotype has given big influences towards the world.

Novelty and Creativity

This post i am going to share about the meaning of and what is about novelty and creativity. Hope after this post, we will catch up and knew them well.

Novelty

Novelty is a patentability requirement. An invention is not patentable if the claimed subject matter was disclosed before the date of filing or before the date of priority if a priority is claimed, of the patent application.

Novelty is the quality of being new. Although it may be said to have an objective dimension (e.g: a new style of art coming into being, such as abstract art or impressionism) it essentially exists in the subjective perceptions of individuals. It also refers to something novel, that which is striking, original or unusual. The term can have pejorative sense and refer to a mere innovation.

Creativity

Creativity is the act of turning new and imaginative ideas into reality. Creativity involves two processes: Think, and then produce. Innovation is the production or implementation of an idea. If you have ideas, but don't act on them, you are imaginative but not creative. ~By Linda Naiman

Creativity is the process of bringing something new into being...creativity requires passion and commitment. Out of the creative act is born symbols and myths. It brings to our awareness what was previously hidden and points to new life. The experience is one of heightened consciousness-ecstasy.

~ By Rollo May, The Courage to Create

The quote which created was so awesome and meaningful, I will implant then in my thought as well.

So, what is creativity? Creativity refers to the phenomenon whereby something new is created which has some kind of value. What counts as "new" may be in reference to the individual creator, or to the society or domain within which the novelty occurs. What counts as "valuable" is similarly defined in a variety of ways. Scholarly interest in creativity ranges widely: the mental and neurological processes associated with creative activity; the relationship between personality type and creative ability; the relationship between creativity and intelligence, learning and mental health; and ways of fostering creativity through training and technology.

Research on Information Kiosk

Last night, I went to Berjaya Times Square and took some photos of the Information Kiosk. It located in front of Berjaya Times Square, at the roadside. Its very large in size and tall which can easily seen. As you can see, the information kiosk is giving the information on what entertainments that provided inside there. Honestly, I did not like much about the design. It was not attract enough for me. The color seem to be too dull and not sharp enough to catch my attention. By the way, when it consider in other angles, it is beneficial if the design not too outstanding. This is because nowadays the percentages of accident keep rising. Most of the drivers do not focus when driving. So, if the information kiosk attracted them much more than focus on driving, it seems like not a good thing at all. And yet, if the design is too complicated, is hard for the peoples to remember it. On the other hand, if the design is simple and nice, peoples may easily remember the information given with just a glance.

Research on Information Counter

First, I am asking myself a question about whether I know and understand what is Information kiosk or counter meant by? Roughly, what I know about Information counter is if I got lost in the shopping mall, looking for the shop which I want to visit, or other problems or question, Information kiosk or counter is the one that I looking for.

Here is the Information counter which I snapped at Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur.

The design of this information kiosk is in a round shape. Obviously, the wallpaper on the counter is promoting about the coming of Deepavali, so this means that the design concept is based on the culture in Malaysia which celebrating their New Year. Then, the next celebration would be Christmas Day! When I first saw the design, it attract me because it is in yellow, a very clear and sharp color indeed. The shops which surrounded the counter are in plain color like black, white and gray. Therefore, I can easily found out the information Counter when I was looking for it. The color show contrast between its and the shops' color which surrounded. It was attractive. the information counter located in front of one of the entrances in Pavilion. Peoples may easily find out where did they want to shop when they have arrived at the shopping mall. This make the visitors more convenience.

Next, there is another Information Counter I would like to share which I have took it at Fahrenheit88 at Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur.

These was an interesting design counter. It totally different with the one in Pavilion. It likes an eight number which is in half, or two semicircles combined, one is bigger and another one is smaller. Besides, it has a beautiful blue lights which surrounded the counter. It was so special. There was not much design of this counter, it mostly play on the shape and lighting effect. And this have enough to show out the personality of the counter. It looks grand and so high class. But, the black color made it a bit dull and too dark. Some-more, the workers were also in black too. This made peoples look so uncomfortable. Its too dark actually. I suggested the black color of the counter change it to white. Then, it will show the contrast between the blue lighting and the uniform of the workers.
